Sergei Shevtsov

Physician-researcher (MD, PhD) and Director of Sanogenesis LLP in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, with over 25 years at the intersection of medicine, plants and the urban environment as a non-pharmacological factor for mental well-being. He spent 15 years as a Senior Researcher at Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. Author of a Eurasian patent (EA 051919) on ecological rehabilitation and ecotherapy, 70+ scientific publications, and two English-language books on plants, biodiversity and mental well-being. His interests span urban ecosystem restoration, therapeutic landscapes and the holobiome as links between nature and human health. As a startup in Kazakhstan, he is developing digital tools for nature-based self-regulation, prevention of depressive disorders, and environmental rehabilitation in anthropobiogeocenoses (Planetary Health). He grows edible and medicinal plants on an experimental plot in Shymkent every day.
